For one hour, while the local and national anchors reviewed the events of the day, Mr. Cat sprawled on my chest, purring. One silky paw reached daintily to my neck. "I'm going away," I whispered, "Stay safe and we'll do this again." His gray-green eyes opened, only five inches from mine, then closed again in pure contentment.
A Message from
Dog Henry
Sometime soon I'll be going away
to a great place of extended dog play
...and I'll not see you again for many a day.
Fear not of losing me
for any time you feel the need
it is I who will find thee.
My best pal and greatest friend
now and eternally.
